Wei-Tung Yeh is a Taiwan-born interdisciplinary artist based in New York. Through material experimentation and process-based making, she explores how forms emerge, become recognizable, gather meaning, and begin to loosen. Moving across drawing, sculpture, installation, and other shifting formats, Yeh allows each inquiry to determine its material language rather than committing to a single medium.
Her practice is informed by Buddhist ideas of impermanence and non-attachment. She approaches form not as a stable endpoint, but as a temporary arrangement shaped by perception, memory, context, and relation. Through layering, fragmentation, repetition, concealment, and spatial displacement, she creates situations in which an image or object may appear familiar without settling into one fixed interpretation. For Yeh, loosening a form does not mean erasing or destroying it; it creates space for other meanings and relationships to become visible.
Her studies of perception, cognitive flexibility, and art therapy further inform her attention to how people organize uncertain experiences. By holding her work between recognition and ambiguity, Yeh invites viewers to notice not only what they see, but how quickly they name it, become attached to that understanding, and whether they can allow it to change without demanding that uncertainty be resolved into a single answer.
